We all love to laugh, and Bangkok offers plenty of opportunities for you to exercise your chuckle muscles. The Western comedy scene is alive and well here and ranges from open mic to improv and shows that feature semi-professional and professional comedians from around the globe.
Long Time No Laugh
This unique show features some of the city’s most talented comedians and is held one Friday a month at Hemingway’s on Sukhumvit Soi 14. The show is arranged in two halves and is designed to present a fresh face of comedy to the Bangkok crowd. During the first half three or four comedians entertain the audience with well-rehearsed sets, while things get a bit wild in the second half. Join the comedians for their offbeat take on recent events and cheer for your favorite comic during the energy charged Yo Mama battle. If you enjoy TV shows like ‘Jon Stewart’s Daily Show’ and ‘The Colbert Report’, you’re sure to love the second half of the show.
Radiointeractive Improv Comedy
This is a special style of comedy where absolutely anything can happen – and usually does. Not even the comedians know what will unfold before they take to the stage and there are sure to be plenty of laughs as weird and wonderful situations are created on the suggestions of audience members. If you love TV shows like ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway’ and ‘The Second City’, this is the show for you! Events are held once a month at Ocean on Sukhumvit Soi 33.
Comedy Club Bangkok
The Royal Oak plays host to this modern comedy experience every Friday evening. Despite only opening a few years ago, the Comedy Club in Bangkok is thriving and has already attracted a large number of famous international acts.
Open Mic at The Overground
Head to The Overground on soi 22 on select Saturdays to watch comedians rocking the mic as only they know how.
